May Favorites (+ Blog Update!)

I'm telling you, this year is going by way too fast for my liking. As of Thursday we will officially be halfway done with 2017, and I honestly can't believe it.

Things have changed quite a bit since my last life updates post, even though it has really been only a month. I completed my sophomore year of college, I moved back home for the rest of the month, and I started my summer internship. Life has been hectic to say the absolute least, which is why I am making the decision to only post once a week from now on, or at least until I can get my bearings and into the groove of working 40-hour work weeks. I really want to ensure that all of my blog posts are written to be as best as they possibly can be, and I don't think I am capable of providing that kind of content twice a week right now. I'm super bummed about it, but I also think it's the best decision for Yours Truly, Katrina at the moment.

Anyway, here are a few things that I've been absolutely adoring during the month of May - you know that these are my favorite blog posts to write, and I hope that you enjoy them too!

Beauty

PS...PRO Illuminating Primer ($2)

I picked this up a little while ago at the Downtown Crossing Primark in Boston - Primark is one of my favorite stores at the moment, because it has such on-trend pieces for low prices on top of also selling makeup, accessories, shoes, and homeware. (No this is not a Primark ad, but if @Primark you're reading this right now and wanna collab, lmk)

The primer was on sale for $2 and I threw it into my bag on a whim, 1. because I had never tried a luminous primer before and 2. because it was literally only two dollars. Since then, I have actually been using it every day for a naturally glowy look for my every day makeup. It looks nice under foundation, but I have mainly been using it for days where I don't want to wear foundation but still want a healthy glow.

If you have a Primark near you, check out the sale section and try to find this primer - I'm positively obsessed!

Soap and Glory 2-in-1 Brow Archery Sculpt & Set ($12)

I take pride in my brows, and when I passed this in Target I knew I had to give it a go. Before this brow product, I was using an Anastasia Beverly Hills brow pencil, which worked well, but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. This, on the other hand, is just what I needed.

The chisel tip allows for quick application of product, and it's just the right combination of waxy and creamy. Plus, it comes with a little pot of setting gel in the end of the pen, making it super ideal for travel and/or 5-minute-makeup days. I haven't stopped using it since, and I highly recommend it to all of you if you are in the market for a new brow product!

Music

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past month, you would know that Harry Styles released his debut solo album and has been the talk of the town. I did a full review of his album on the blog here, and I still have been playing it nonstop.

Liam Payne and Niall Horan, also of One Direction fame, released brand-spanking-new singles this month as well, which was just a little too much for my former-Directioner heart to handle.

Another standout from this month's playlist has been The Maine's newest album, Lovely Little Lonely - I have been a fan of The Maine for quite a while now, and this album is just so perfect.

Finishing my sophomore year of college!

Earlier this month I completed the last of my finals and officially exited my sophomore year. It went by so quickly, but I am forever thankful for all that I was able to experience and learn throughout the course of this school year.

One of the highlights of this year, particularly this semester, was getting an A in my Differential Equations class. It is one of the tougher courses in my school's math department, and to be able to say that I earned that A with hard work is something that I will always be proud of.

Trip to NYC with Michael

The week after we finished school, Michael and I took a quick little trip into New York City to visit Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We got to make fun of see some really interesting art (even though I do love museums, modern art still confuses me to no end), hang out on the Great Lawn in the Park, and get more than our fair share of steps in for the day.

Plus, we took a spontaneous trip downtown to visit my favorite bookstore, The Strand, and explored the stacks together. It was great to de-stress with him and explore the city, especially since our busy schedules might make it hard for us to spend time together over the course of the summer.

Starting my first engineering internship!

This is by far one of the coolest things to happen to me this month - I had my first day as a Process Engineering intern at a medical device company last Monday. Things have been such a whirlwind since I started, as I am learning so many terms, so many names, and the stories of so many people that I am working with.

If anything, this internship has strengthened my interest (if that were even possible, lol) in Biomedical Engineering, and I am proud to work in an industry that directly impacts lives every day. I have some internship tips post ideas swirling around in my head, as well, so if you would like to see that then let me know in the comments below!
