Bullet Journal Setup - Spring 2017

As mentioned in an earlier post, I keep a Bullet Journal for organizing my life activities! It has truly changed my productivity, and it gives me something to look forward to during my busy day.

If you're new to the concept of Bullet Journaling, check out Ryder Carroll's post & YouTube video on the official Bullet Journal website - that should give you a basic idea of the system. I think it's absolutely amazing that so many people have adopted this method, creating a massive online community full of people that Bullet Journal. When I'm in need of inspo, my favorite blogs to look at are Boho Berry and Pretty Prints & Paper, as well as Caitlin's Corner!

Anywho, my Bullet Journal setup varies slightly from Ryder Carroll's original method - I like to make my setup a little more elaborate, 1. Because it's therapeutic to practice my handwriting and use colored pencils, and 2. Because it's way more fun to open up a plan for the day when I know I designed it. Designs for my weekly spreads and different pages are constantly changing, but this is the setup I've settled on for the rest of the semester. I love it, and I hope you will too!

Weekly Spread

My weekly spread takes up three pages - one for my Weekly Log, and two for my dailies. I keep a running list of all of the things I need to get done during the week in my weekly log, one that I typically start on Sunday and add to as I go.

Sometimes I don't finish everything that I set out to do for the week, and I've had to become okay with that. Still, knowing everything I have to do each week keeps me motivated to fill in those boxes, and that's precisely why I love the Bullet Journal.

Now, my spread for the week features to-do lists for each day, as well as a little timetable I created so that I can look at my journal quickly to see how much free time I have for the day.

Events are housed under a circle, and tasks are marked with a box. I use my Bullet Journal mainly for keeping up with all of the stuff that I need to do outside of homework. I used to find myself always missing deadlines or being late to meetings or forgetting important dates, so the Bullet Journal has helped me keep track of everything school related and make sure that all my ducks are in a row.

Gratitude Log

Another incredibly important aspect of my Bullet Journal is the Gratitude Log. I got this idea from Boho Berry, and for each day I write down two things that I am grateful for. I love looking back on these when I'm having a rough day, and I have found that even the toughest days give you one or two things to be thankful for.

Goals Pages

Finally, this semester I included two pages for goals: one for all of 2017, and one for the entire year.

I look to this page for inspiration, especially since the semester has gotten off to a rocky start for me. My mom always says, "You can't achieve success without setting goals," and I couldn't agree more.

If you've been toying with the idea of starting a Bullet Journal, I say just go for it! It's honestly so rewarding and fun, and I get so much more done now because of it.
