Hello friends - I am here with a little chit-chat post, and this series has a new name: Chats with Kat! I have been writing Life Updates posts for a while now, but I thought that this collection should have a a name (plus, it rhymes, which makes everything 1000000x better). It seems as though this has become a trend within the college blogging community, and while I hate to hop onto a bandwagon, I will say that I do love reading and writing these posts.
As a reader, it gives me a better idea of who the person behind the blog is - after all, nobody has ever said that your Twitter bio has to encompass every facet of the person that you are! It makes the blogging community feel close, I think. For me, even though I always feel guilty because these posts tend to come following a long break from blogging, I like to write about what's been going on. I consider you, my lovely readers, to be my friends, and this is kind of like us sitting down with a cup of coffee and catching up on our lives.
Okay, enough of me rambling - here is what's been going on lately in my life:
College
School started back up again for me, and I'm just finishing up the first week of my Junior year of college! It's absolutely crazy that I already have two years under my belt, and that next year I'll be a senior. I feel so old when I walk around campus seeing all of the freshmen scrambling to class, and it kind of makes me wish that I was starting college all over again. (But also, not really.)

Move-in day! (Ft. my stuffed animals - I have no shame) |
This year I have a lot going on, and I'm honestly beginning to think that I got in a little over my head - I am writing for the school newspaper and the technology magazine, serving in student government, choreographing & running practices for the dance team, and running this blog on top of all of my school work! Don't get me wrong, I love being busy, so we will see how the semester holds up.
If you didn't know, I also just posted about the goals I set for this semester here on the blog - goals are really important to me, so I am excited to check off as many as I can!
Career
I finished up the internship of my dreams this past summer, and beyond what I learned in a professional setting, I gained so much as a person from the summer experience.I made friends from all over the country, from all walks of life, and at all different schools. It was so cool to bond with kids that were similar to me in their interests and goals but so different in their life paths and stories. Even though the summer is long over, I know that the friends I made while I was at my internship will last forever, and I am really grateful for that chance.
Travel
I did quite a bit of traveling in the short period of time between my internship and school, believe it or not! My family and I took a short weekend trip to Texas in the beginning of August, and we definitely seized the opportunity to explore as much as we possibly could have. We even visited the Dallas Cowboys stadium and drove four hours to San Antonio! Though my family considers itself to be a hardcore New York Giants-loving family, there is no denying that the stadium is a really cool building, and we had so much fun touring it.

When I came home, I visited Philadelphia twice, and I had the most amazing time! My best friend Amanda moved closer to the Philly area, so my friend and I took the trip down to visit her & explore. We visited Elfreth's Alley, which is a cool little part of the city that is simultaneously historic and fully-functioning, and we also spent time just walking around & seeing the sights.

My second trip to Philly was with Michael, and we hit up the most important sights - Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell - since it was his first time in the city! We headed over to Reading Terminal Market for some cheesesteaks, and we ended the day by traveling back into Jersey to see the Camden Aquarium.
It's funny to think that I've lived so close to these places for so long, and I have only visited them a handful of times! Hopefully I'll be able to explore more in the future, as I really fell in love with Philly that week.
Music
In addition to Lorde and Bleachers' new albums, I've been listening to quite a lot of throwback music this summer, which is interesting because 2000s alternative rock doesn't necessarily fall in the "Summer Jams" category. Check out my Spotify playlist below to catch up on what I've been listening to!
Beauty
It's been a hot minute since I posted something beauty-related, and it has been forever since I talked about my every day makeup routine! Naturally, however, with the addition of some new products to my lineup, my makeup routine has evolved to something that I am really happy with.
I really fell in love with ColourPop's new concealer line, as well as with their powder highlighters. I've also been trying to make time to do my makeup every day - as silly as that sounds (obviously, people do challenges to not wear makeup every day!), doing my makeup is time for me to relax and collect myself before my day starts, and I cherish the ability to do that as often as I can.
Final Thoughts
Well, there you have it - that's everything that I've been up to since we last spoke! I think it's interesting how quickly things can change, and you can bet that I'll be back sometime soon with another one of these chatty posts.
